Sunday School

BIBLE STUDIES

GBC is happy to have a wide selection of Sunday School Classes for Adults, Young Adults, Teens, and Children. Join us to learn more about Christ and how to apply His example to your life. We have a variety of classes and teachers, so we encourage you to find the one that fits your unique learning style. Class sizes are small, so you can interact with others, ask questions, and gain more knowledge while building your relationship with Christ. Classes are designed for believers wanting a deeper relationship with the Lord and non-believers wanting to know more about Christ. All are welcome. Feel free to drop into any class to find out more!

Gtown Kids

Time: 9 am and 10:30 am
Location: F105, F110-114
Age Group: Birth – 4th Grade
Leader: Brette Gabbart

Sunday mornings in Gtown Kids are an exciting opportunity for parents to engage in
discipleship with their children. As a church, we believe that discipleship begins at home with
parents. With that belief, we encourage parents to choose the hour they want to bring their
children to Gtown Kids. We offer the same curriculum for both hours for 1st – 4th grade, so
children can engage in bible study with their peers for one hour and then sit in worship with
their family during the hour. However, knowing the needs of younger children, we offer a
unique and different experience each hour for Kindergarten-age children and younger ones!
Check-in and pick-up will be in the Fellowship Hall.

We offer the following classes:

  • Bed Babies: Birth – Crawlers
  • Toddlers: Walking – Potty Trained
  • Pre-K & Kindergarten
  • 1st & 2nd Grade
  • 3rd & 4th Grade
Path 56

Time: 9 am and 10:30 am
Location: P103
Age Group: 5th and 6th Grade

Path 56 is a ministry dedicated to leading students who are ready to grow deeper in
their faith but not quite ready to join the Reach Student ministry. If you have a 5th or 6th
grader, they will not want to miss this class, as we will spend time preparing your students to
shine the light of Jesus when they become teenagers.

The Reach

Time: 9 am
Location: C100 | Chapel
Age Group: 7th -12th grade

Leaders: Maverick Malone, Malorie Malone, Donna Gist, Jason Brown, and Tammy Brown

We open our Sunday School each week with a game and donuts for the youth to enjoy and
fellowship. Then, the boys and girls split off into their rooms to study a book of the Bible, verse
by verse. We have an open conversation so that the youth can ask many questions and
understand God’s word well. Sunday School is a time for the youth to grow deeper into God’s
word and enhance their relationship with God while also getting to know the other youth and
adults more personally.

College & Career

Time: 10:30 am
Location: C100 | Chapel
Age Group: After High School through early Career
Leaders: Valerie Dusek, Jason Brown, Keith Henderson

The College and Career class completes multi-week Bible studies. We have topical
studies like “Holy Habits,” where we have discussed and focused on applying scripture to our
daily actions. Also, we have expository studies, going through large sections of scripture verse
by verse, stopping periodically to discuss what the Word is trying to say and how we can apply
the lessons to our lives. We like to pray for each other and other Sunday school classes in our
church. The faces change depending on the time of year, but the spirit of fellowship is strong
year-round. Participants in the class spend a lot of time together during the week outside of
church between work and school hours.

Open Nesters

Time: 9 am
Location: P102
Age Group: 50+, but all ages are encouraged!
Leaders : Ken Higgins and Laura Higgins

We take a deep dive into the weekly lesson to get a personal understanding of the
Word. We open the Bible and discuss a specific passage from our lesson book and how to apply
it. Ken also adds a little history to provide some color and perspective and may bring a little
surprise to get you thinking! Open discussion is always encouraged! We typically open our
class with traditional hymns to start our worship. It is fun and open to all. Join us to learn more
about the Bible and Christ! We’d love to see you!

Unbelievables

Time: 9 am
Location: P101
Age Group: No age group, singles or couples are welcome
Leader: Scott Galyon

We study the Word through topical studies or go through it book by book. Our goal is
to teach the Word so that we can apply it, understand the truth, and share the good news. Our
study will be intentional and interactive as we dive into the truth of God’s Word.

Transformers

Class: Transformers
Time: 9 am
Location: C112
Age Group: All Adults are welcome
Leaders: Tracy Badgett, Mike McDonald and Bill Austin

We teach primarily from the curriculum made available by Lifeway Bible Studies. The
goal on Sunday morning is:

  1. To be informed
  2. To be equipped
  3. How to APPLY the Word to your life!
  4. We are a diverse group from many different backgrounds…. you will fit in our fellowship!
Marriage Enrichment

Time: 9 am
Location: B107
Age Group: All married couples or newly engaged couples
Leaders: Kelley Adley and Kilee Adley

This is a discipleship-based enrichment for every marriage – the healthy, the
struggling, and the broken. This ministry draws married couples to the church, giving them a
safe place to move forward oneness through small groups, teaching, and stories of hope.
Healthy families require healthy marriages; this class will help build marriages that enrich
relationships with our children. As kids see their parents model God's intended relationship,
families are strengthened and united. (Proverbs 14:26)

Joy in the Journey

Time: 10:30 am
Location: P101
Age Group: Women of all ages
Leaders: Donna Hughes, Diane Moss

If you are looking for a women’s Bible study on Sunday mornings, you must visit “Joy
in the Journey.” Rich Bible study, discipleship, prayer, and warm fellowship allow women to
mature in the faith, encourage one another, and experience the joy of knowing Jesus as Savior
and Lord. Members genuinely love each other and share one another’s burdens. The love of
Christ is evident, so give us a try.

The Gathering

Time: 9 am
Location: P102
Age Group: Our class consists mainly of younger couples with children, but everyone is welcome.
Leaders: Justin Wheatley and Marshall Cathey

We lean toward expository study of the Bible with topical studies added in as
appropriate.
Our time together is participatory, meaning there are several opportunities for us to
learn from each other during open discussions of open-ended questions.
We try to enjoy times together outside of church.
We try to support one another’s families.

The Huddle

Time: 10:30 am
Location: C112
Age Group: All adult ages
Leader: J. D. Henderson

A class that explores a weekly Bible lesson from the church curriculum (or wherever
the Spirit moves us) and how it applies to our lives.  It is an open discussion with plenty of
questions to generate conversation.  Lessons are enhanced with Biblical and cultural history
that clarify the context of the material covered.  With this being the beginning of a new class, it
is the perfect opportunity to jump in with us!
