Ministry Leaders

 Senior Adult Pastor

After retiring from a career in the Information Technology field which started in the U.S. Air Force, I have dedicated myself to serving our Great God in various pastoral ministries for many years.

I have worked with many wonderful church families while living in four states and also in Mexico for several years. After serving as pastor of Quail Baptist Church in the Texas Panhandle for seven years, my wife Diane and I chose to move to Pottsboro to spend time fishing and enjoying beautiful Lake Texoma. We joined Georgetown Baptist Church in early 2018.

It is now my privilege to be serving as the Senior Adult Minister here at Georgetown Baptist Church. Our mission is to enhance a deeper relationship with Christ and support our seniors in life events.

I am looking forward to developing programs and ministry services for our seniors which will offer them meaningful on-going fellowship with their church family and also initiate new programs of service within and without the church.

We are so blessed to be working with such a warm and friendly church and would love for you to come and experience the love we have for Christ and each other.

Please contact me if I can be of any service.

Youth Minister

Maverick Malone

I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve Georgetown Baptist Church as the Interim Youth Minister. I grew up this youth group, this church is my home. I don’t say that lightly!  It’s Georgetown Baptist Church where I accepted Jesus Christ when I was 14 years old, and where I received my call to ministry at 16.

I have lived in Pottsboro, Texas my entire life, so I am extremely passionate about this community and its youth. It is my calling to lead youth into a deep loving relationship with God.

1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example.” This is what I strive to live by and what I teach the students of The Reach. God will be the center of everything we do: games, events, Wednesday nights bible study, or anything else, and He will get the Glory!

Interim Children’s Director

Brette Gabbart

My parents started coming to Georgetown when I was 3. I asked Jesus into my heart when I was 8 years old. I was your typical “Jesus loving church girl” growing up. I was always at church or church functions. I loved being at church. I moved schools from Pottsboro to Texoma Christian School in middle school and finished high school at TCS.

After high school I jumped in feet first in volunteering in the youth group at Georgetown Baptist Church. That was my favorite place to be. Helping with activities, loving on some kids, and showing them Jesus’ love!

About a year after high school, I met my sweet husband Matthew. We dated for about a year and a half before he proposed! We were married the following year in September! We moved to Daisy, Oklahoma and lived there for a little over 2 years before God opened door after door for us to move back to my favorite place in the world, Pottsboro! God moved me to Daisy so I could grow up. At the time I was very very sad to be leaving my church family, but God provided a church family to help me mature and grow up in McGee Valley Baptist Church. (Ask me about moving back, I love to tell that story!)

We moved back to Pottsboro December 1st of 2017. I was hired the following January as the Children’s assistant and I’ve loved every minute of working at my home church.

Our Staff

Pastor’s Assistant

Donna Gist

I have been the Pastor’s administrative assistant since 2012. I normally work Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 am to around noon. However, please feel free to contact me at anytime; I am always happy to assist anyone.

I have been a member of Georgetown Baptist since 1996. I love the youth and am involved in that ministry. I have taught junior high Sunday School and am currently teaching high school girls Sunday School. I love going to camp and cooking for them because it gives me a chance to get to know each of them personally. I “retired” from Texas Instruments in 2009 and took up quilting, which is what I do when I am not at church. I also love to read and always have a book with me. Matthew 6:33-34

Courtney Stevens

Financial Administrator

I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve at Georgetown Baptist just like my dad (Chris Lovejoy) did! I have been so blessed over the years by the people of Georgetown and am so excited that the Lord brought me back here! My husband and I moved back to Texas about a year ago from Colorado. We are so happy to call Texas home, and are now expecting our first baby in August, Finnick Christopher! The Lord is good!

I graduated with my bachelors degree in Business Management in May of 2018, and am excited to use that knowledge to serve the people of Georgetown. Please contact me if you need anything at all!

Facilities Manager

Jason Safford

I’m so blessed to serve as the Facilities Manager at Georgetown Baptist Church. My family moved from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, back to the Pottsboro area in 2013. At that time my wife began her profession as a nurse anesthetist at TMC and Baylor Scott and White.

My Wife, Nichole and I have been members of Georgetown Baptist since 2015. We have 2 children, Landry and Ella.

My hobbies include golf, travelling with my kids’ activities, and TCU sports!
