Why Give?

“But just as you excel in everything – in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us – see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” 2 Cor. 8:7

We believe as followers of Jesus we are called to live generous and sacrificial lives. Through giving regularly, joyfully, and sacrificially we remind ourselves and demonstrate to others the truth of the gospel of Christ – that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most generous gift ever given.

Tithing

At the Experience, we encourage all Christ-followers to worship and serve God through following the Biblical practice of tithing (regularly giving a portion of their income) to the Church in which they are committed and involved.

Tithing reflects a grateful heart that wants to give back to God a portion of what He has given us; in reality, what is already His.

Tithing is our opportunity to trust God with our finances. James 1:17 says that “every good and perfect gift is from above …,” so we have an opportunity to tangibly show God He is the “owner” of our finances by giving back to Him the first of what He gives us.

Tithing is a reminder that God is the supplier of everything we have. It is also God’s personal invitation to an outpouring of his blessing in your life. “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” Malachi 3:10

Offering

We also encourage followers of Jesus to listen and obey the Holy Spirit when it comes to generously giving offerings. An offering is that which is freely given to the work of the local church and missions.

Offerings are far more than simply monetary resources. Romans 12:1 instructs us to offer our bodies “as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God” as part of our worship.

The truth is, God doesn’t need our money. What He wants and what He values from us is a heart that overflows with gratitude and thanksgiving to the God who saved us and who gives us all things, knowing our needs before we even ask (Matthew 6:8).

Such a heart gives generously, willingly, and cheerfully in response to the love and grace that abounds in Christ.
